Hemorrhoids

What are hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are a condition in which the veins around the rectum become swollen when stretched under pressure. Sitting for prolonged periods on the toilet can contribute to this. While hemorrhoids are not dangerous, they can be very painful.Common causes
• standing or sitting for
extended periods of time
• diarrhea
• constipation
• severe coughing
• childbirth
• heavy lifting

Types of hemorrhoids
Internal – don’t hurt or itch, sometimes causes bleeding which should be evaluated to rule out a more serious condition
External – pain, burning, itching, bleeding

PPH – Procedure for Prolapse & Hemorrhoids------

At CCS, surgeons are offering a new procedure--PPH which is short for Procedure for Prolapse & Hemorrhoids. This involves a way to uniformly remove that redundant tissue that forms hemorrhoids. See below. . .

PPH technique reduces the enlargement of hemorrhoidal tissue
Minimally invasive surgical approach• Less Pain – procedure is performed above the pain line, affecting fewer nerve endings• Quicker Recovery – return to work and activities sooner• Fewer overall complications• Need for less post-operative pain medication
About the procedure
• Uses a hemorrhoidal circular stapler device
• Procedure “lifts up” and repositions the tissue.
• Reduces the blood flow to the internal hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids then shrink within 4- 6 weeks after the procedure and allows the anal tissue to be restored to its original anatomical position

Call for an appointment 336 - 387-8100 and inquire about PPH.
