Central Carolina Surgery

Central Carolina Surgery, PA was formed on October 1, 1999 as a merger between Greensboro Surgical Associates, PA and Triad Surgical Specialists, PA. The sixteen surgeons that created the new group have come from earlier groups that have served the Piedmont Triad for decades. Greensboro Surgical Associates, PA was created by the late Marshall "Cotton" Morris and Peter Young in the late 60s. Over the ensuing years, Drs. Leone, Ingram, Bowman, Davis, Lindsey, Gerkin, and Hardcastle would join the practice. The origin of Triad Surgical Specialists, PA can be traced to its formation in 1995 as a merger of three groups of surgeons: Drs. Farley, Abrams, Streck, & Martin; Drs. Price, Newman, and Blievernicht; and Drs. Weatherly & Hoxworth. Dr. Rosenbower joined TSS in 1997.

Since CCS was formed, Dr. Wyatt has joined the group to lead the trauma/critical care service that CCS provides at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Dr. Blackman joined CCS in 2000 followed by Dr. Toth in 2001. Dr. Burke Thompson joined CCS from Florida as our new trauma/general surgery associate.

Central Carolina Surgery provides a broad spectrum of surgical services at the Moses H. Cone Health System facilities in Greensboro as well as the Healthsouth Surgical Center in Greensboro. CCS surgeons provide endocrine (thyroid, parathyroid-including MIRP, adrenal), breast (sentinel lymph node mapping), gastrointestinal (esophageal, stomach, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, small bowel and colon, and anorectal) surgical care. Cancer surgery especially of the breast and GI tract are a large part of the practice. Skin cancer (melanoma) is frequently treated by CCS surgeons. Advanced laparoscopic surgery is performed in the abdomen (hiatal hernia, gallbladder, bowel) as well as in certain inguinal hernia cases. Dr. Bowman provides vascular surgery as well as varicose vein surgery.
